新しい発想を得るにはデータで遊ぶという方法もある。

ある看護士はさまざまなデータを集めて遊んでみた結果、あることに気が付いた。

それは廊下の左側にある部屋の患者の方が、右側の部屋の患者より早く退院するというデータであった。

部屋の割振りはランダムに行われていたにもかかわらず数年にわたってこの傾向が見られていた。

そこで違いを調べてみると、左側の部屋からは綺麗な景色が、右側の部屋からは駐車場しか見えない、ということが判明した。

そこからその看護士は魅力的な景色を見せることで患者の治療を助けるイメージ・セラピーを考え付き、その部門を作り出すことに成功したのだ。
